Indian furniture retailer Pepperfry acquires interior solutions firm

Pepperfry, an India-based online furniture retailer, has acquired Brandmakerr, an interior solutions company, for an undisclosed amount, Mint reported.

Following this deal, the latter’s founder, Rahul Kapuria, will act as vice president of Pepperfry. He will take up business solution duties for civil and commercial interior design as well as turnkey solutions.

With the acquisition, Pepperfry will be commercially fitting out banks, retail firms, hotels, cafes, and restaurants.

Brandmakerr was founded in 2014, scoring projects across 21 cities in India. Its clients include Amazon, Hamleys, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Domino’s, and KFC.

Pepperfry was established in 2011 by Ambareesh Murty and Ashish Shah. To date, it has raised a total of US$285.3 million, with backers such as InnoVen Capital, Bertelsmann, Goldman Sachs, and Norwest Venture Partners. The firm had reportedly intended to file for an IPO in the first half of 2022, aiming to raise pre-IPO funds before the year’s end. However, the firm is yet to file for a public listing.
