In brief: Chinese EV startup Leapmotor bags $51.2m in series A2 round

  • Chinese electric vehicle startup Leapmotor has raised roughly US$51.2 million in a series A2 round from Jinhua Zhongche Fund, KrAsia reported.
  • In a Shenzhen Stock Exchange filing, Dahua Technology, Leapmotor’s largest shareholder, said its stake in the EV maker would fall from 16.32% to 15.5%, while its chairman Fu Liquan will hold 15.7%, making him the largest stakeholder of Leapmotor.
  • Established in December 2015, Sequoia-backed Leapmotor indicates on its website that it plans to ship more of its S01 EV cars, priced between 119,900 yuan (US$17,000) and 159,900 yuan (US$23,000), this year.
