Nearly 30,000 ether (about US$36 million as of writing) of the US$100 million hack of blockchain platform Harmony was transferred to privacy mixer service Tornado Cash, according to blockchain security and data analytics firm PeckShield.

The move to transfer funds to mixers like Tornado Cash typically prevents cryptocurrencies from being tracked and frozen. The hackers still hold US$64 million in their Ethereum wallet, the PeckShield analysis noted.

In response to the movement of funds, Harmony said it is working with two “highly reputable” blockchain tracing and analysis partners and the FBI as part of an investigation into the hack.

“We’re [We] are still willing to have a discussion with the hacker but will continue the full investigation until resolution or the return of stolen funds,” Harmony tweeted.
According to the blockchain platform, confidentiality is “paramount” in the investigation, and the firm said it will share “as much as possible,” while working with its incident response team.
