In brief: 3 organizations pour $1m into Myanmar’s startup ecosystem

• Netherlands-based ICCO Cooperation, Yangon-based startup incubator Phandeeyar, and DaNa Facility – a program funded by the UK’s Department for International Development – announced a plan to invest US$1 million into two inclusive business (IB) ecosystem grants in Myanmar.
• ICCO Cooperation, with its partner groups One to Watch and Truvalu, will implement the Accelerate Inclusive Burmese SMEs for Shared Prosperity project, while Phandeeyar will implement the AccelerateMM: Using Technology to Grow Inclusive Businesses in Myanmar.
• The projects aim to improve the startup ecosystem for IBs, which target low-income populations. They will focus on developing at least 10 enterprises in Myanmar’s priority areas: agritech, fintech, health, and education.
