Pinktada, a blockchain-based travel startup, has raised US$975,000 from Ireland-based fund Selenean Capital, among others.

Launched in May this year, Pinktada allows users to book hotel rooms similar to conventional online travel platforms. However, if users have a change of plans, they can swap or sell the reservation to other people in a marketplace through the process of tokenization.

Additionally, the US-based firm also helps hotel partners get guaranteed prepaid sales as well as additional revenue from upselling features and secondary hotel reservation transactions.

Pinktada was established by serial entrepreneurs Ronald Homsy and Lyon Hardgrave. It currently has properties in Hawaii, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, New York, Miami, and San Francisco.

The company counts True Global Ventures 4 Plus (TGV), who has poured a total of US$2 million into the startup, as one of its backers. It plans to use the fresh funding for hotel acquisition, marketing, and product development purposes.
