Get AMPED in Malaysia this June

In the fast-moving startup world, meaningful connections and real-world insights can be game-changers. That’s where AMPED comes in: Tech in Asia’s new event series cuts through the fluff to create a four-hour experience designed to provide hyperlocal tips and tricks to answer founders’ burning questions.

We’re kicking things off on June 11 in Kuala Lumpur, bringing insightful stage sessions, hands-on workshops, and in-depth masterclasses aimed at helping founders as they scale at growth.

The speakers you’ll get to meet at AMPED Malaysia on June 11.

Here’s what we’ve got lined up for you at AMPED Malaysia:

Uncover strategies for scaling and growth

What does it really take to build a brand that scales across borders? At AMPED Malaysia, our stage sessions will take you behind the scenes at Southeast Asia’s biggest companies, offering real-world insights on branding, growth, and regional expansion.

Cheryl Goh, group head of marketing and sustainability and the founding CMO at Grab, will take us through the super app’s branding strategies. She’ll discuss branding decisions that shaped the company’s rise, from the metrics that mattered most to the role of customer feedback.

Edward Tirtanata, group CEO of Kopi Kenangan, will sit down with us in a fireside chat, where he’ll share how the Indonesian coffee brand scaled from local favorite to regional D2C force. He’ll dive into growth tactics, localization strategies, how data and tech tools can fuel innovation, and of course, how to scale overseas without losing your roots.

Navigate the age of AI

The way startups are built is changing. For early-stage founders dealing with product development, hiring, and go-to-market strategies, understanding AI isn’t optional anymore – it’s foundational.

Sherry Jiang, CEO and co-founder of AI-powered money management app Peek, will lead a masterclass on building an AI-native startup. This masterclass is designed for startup founders who want to go beyond the hype and understand how AI tools and platforms can directly impact how they build.

Whether you’re a technical founder or just starting to explore AI, you’ll learn how to leverage this new technology to iterate faster and solve problems in new ways.

Understand what VCs really want

Raising capital is one of the biggest challenges that early-stage startups face, but understanding how investors think can give founders a definite edge. Likewise, investors benefit from seeing how founders interpret and respond to tough funding questions.

Dave Ng, general partner at Altara Ventures, will bring both sides of the table together for a 60-minute workshop featuring three key components:

  • Investor mindset breakdown – A presentation highlighting what VCs look out for and common dealmakers and breakers
  • Case study analysis – Breakout group discussions between investors and founders to talk about sample cases and the deal screening process
  • Lightning pitches – Founders will deliver one-minute pitches, and VCs will share what they think. Investors will give real-time feedback on what stood out, what fell short, and whether they’d invest.

Through these interactive activities, founders and VCs will walk away with practical knowledge into what really drives investment decisions and how to sharpen your approach.
