Gojek partners with Selex Motors to boost e-bike pilot in Vietnam

Gojek is partnering with Vietnamese electric vehicle startup Selex Motors to use the company’s Selex Camel electric motorbikes across its ride-hailing, food delivery, and logistics services in the country.

The company said that Selex Camel bikes can help drivers save on fuel and maintenance costs by 35% and 50%, respectively. Drivers can also swap the electric motorbike’s battery for free at 30 stations in Hanoi and 40 across Ho Chi Minh City.

“The partnership will help Gojek Vietnam to further play its part in supporting GoTo Group’s commitment to achieving zero emissions and transitioning our fleet to 100% EVs by 2030,” said Sumit Rathor, Gojek Vietnam’s general manager, in a statement.

This is the latest in a number of partnerships Gojek has made in Vietnam this year. In May, the super app began working with Dat Bike, another Vietnamese electric vehicle company, to pilot the latter’s e-motorbikes.

Last month, Gojek also announced a tie-up with MoMo, which integrates the GoFood food delivery service into the payments app.

In Indonesia, GoTo Group has a joint venture called Electrum with energy firm TBS Energi Utama. Electrum aims to build infrastructure for two-wheeler EVs in the country. This includes infrastructure for the electric motorcycles themselves as well as batteries and charging stations.
