Gojek to launch new products, hire talent to grow its business in Singapore
“A larger pool of drivers and a wider range of services are some of the things Gojek users in Singapore can look forward to in the coming year, said the firm’s co-CEO Kevin Aluwi,” reported Channel News Asia.
Details:
- Aluwi said Gojek is making strategic investments to grow its business to make a “lasting impact” in the city-state, such as launching more incentives and support for drivers to double their number on its platform.
- The internet giant will also be launching new transport products, including a mobility platform for corporates and features to book taxis and large vehicles, the executive said.
- Gojek will also hire talent in Singapore, especially in cybersecurity and data analytics.
Context:
- The Indonesia-based company expanded to Singapore in November 2018 as part of its regional expansion, following Uber’s exit from Southeast Asia.
- Aluwi said the company’s ride-hailing business has seen a “very healthy recovery” after it was “badly hit” during the Covid-19 pandemic. He added that Gojek’s revenue returned to the same level it reached in March 2020 and recorded a 7x growth in the online grocery business.
