Games in Asia is hiring! Full-time editor, full-time eSports reporter

UPDATE 6/10: Both positions have been filled, thanks for all the applications.

Passionate about video games? A stickler for good grammar? Games in Asia is hiring for two separate full-time positions:

  • Editor
  • eSports Reporter

Please check out the details on each position below.

Editor

Job description: As an editor at Games in Asia, you’ll be expected to produce multiple articles per day while also helping our team of writers put together compelling stories and double-checking the work of other editors to make sure all the writing that appears on our site is perfect. You’ll be expected to play and review games, to write interesting opinion pieces about games and the Asian games industry, to report on local events and eSports, and keep up with the hottest titles in the region.

Here’s what we’re looking for. You don’t have to tick all of these boxes, but the more apply to you, the more compelling a candidate you will be:

  • Based in Asia.
  • Writing and editing experience (doesn’t have to be a ton).
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about games and gaming
  • Speaks Chinese, Korean, or Japanese. (We don’t write in these languages but they’re very useful for finding stories, conducting interviews, etc.)
  • Familiar with popular MOBA games (LoL or Dota 2) and/or popular MMORPGs.
  • Capable of basic image and video editing
  • Team player who understands this isn’t like a 9-5 job, and who really wants to build something with us.

Again, you don’t need to be all of the things listed above, but the more of those apply to you, the better. And here’s what we offer you:

  • Work from home
  • Competitive salary based on your region and experience/education level
  • Real potential for quick promotions and results-based pay raises (we’re data-driven and we reward success)
  • Be part of a small, passionate team that loves games and is trying to build something great for the Asian gaming scene
  • Write about video games!

Games in Asia is a startup and we work like one, which is to say we work hard. Don’t get me wrong; our jobs are amazing and we work from home, so I’m not talking about staying late in the office to do boring paperwork or anything like that. But as a small team that’s striving to build something great, we need team players with genuine passion for the project to get on board. If you don’t have that passion, you’re not going to be able to keep up.

If you do have that passion, we want to hear from you. Please send a resume, cover letter, writing sample, and a short biography of yourself to charlie[at]gamesinasia.com. Title the email “GiA Editor position”.

eSports Reporter

Job description: As an eSports reporter at Games in Asia, you will be focused on producing content relating to the Asian eSports scene, with special focus on the League of Legends and Dota 2 scenes. You would be expected to conduct and/or translate interviews with players, produce opinion pieces and news pieces about interesting developments within the scene, and assist with the promotion and growth of our eSports coverage in general. You would also be expected to help out and contribute articles related to popular titles like LoL and Dota 2 but not directly related to the eSports scene when time allows.

Here’s what we’re looking for. You don’t have to tick all of these boxes, but the more apply to you, the more compelling a candidate you will be:
