Rising startups on Tech In Asia: learning apps, hotel chatbots, and more

Which are the startups that are on the path to becoming the next big thing? In this regular post, we give you an overview of the companies that have raised money in the past week, as well as those we think investors should look at.

1. Byju’s (India)

Edtech startup Byju’s, which offers a popular learning app in India, raised US$150 million in a funding round led by Qatar Investment Authority, with participation from Owl Ventures. The company will use the fresh capital for further product development and global expansion. More info.

2. Rivigo (India)

Logistics startup Rivigo raised US$65 million in an ongoing series E round led by Warburg Pincus and SAIF Partners. The company plans to use the fresh capital to extend its network coverage. More info.

3. Niyo Solutions (India)

Niyo Solutions, a digital banking startup, secured US$35 million in a series B fundraise. Investors included Horizons Ventures and Tencent Holdings, as well as existing backer JS Capital. The fresh funds will be used for further product development and overseas expansion. More info.

4. TheAsianparent

TheAsianparent, a content platform and community for Southeast Asian mothers, secured an eight-figure amount of funding in an oversubscribed series C round led by Fosun. Participating investors included JD.com, ATM Capital, and Redbadge Pacific, as well as existing backers Global Grand Leisure and WHG Capital. More info.

5. Taiger (Singapore)

Taiger, a developer of AI solutions for the banking, government, and insurance sectors, raised US$25 million in a series B round led by PacificBridge Asset Management and Hong Kong’s MCM Investment Partners. The company will use the fresh funds to expand globally and strengthen its presence in South America. More info.

6. Ezyhaul (Singapore)

Freight logistics startup Ezyhaul raised US$16 million in a series B round in a bid to expand into Indonesia and the Philippines. It currently operates in Malaysia, Singapore, India, and Thailand. More info.

7. Igloohome (Singapore)

Igloohome, a creator of smart-access solutions like smart locks, secured US$15 million. Insignia Ventures Partners, Wavemaker Partners, and Seeds Capital led the round, which included participation from both new and existing investors. Following the fundraise, the company launched a new suite of solutions to support smart cities. More info.

8. Glints (Singapore)

Glints, a job solutions startup focused on young talents in Southeast Asia, has raised US$6.8 million in a series B funding led by regional venture capital firm Monk’s Hill Ventures. More info

9. One BioMed (Singapore)

One BioMed, a medical diagnostics company, raised US$5 million in a series A round led by Biopath Ventures and Arch Venture Partners, with participation from Seeds Capital. The fresh funds will go towards commercializing its first product. More info.

10. Rebel Foods (India)

Rebel Foods, a cloud kitchen startup, raised US$5 million from Go-Ventures as part of the former’s ongoing series D round fundraise. Go-Ventures is the venture capital arm of Gojek. More info.

11. Dltledgers (Singapore)

Dltledgers, a profitable blockchain startup that facilitates cross-border trade, raised US$2.5 million from Walden International as part of its ongoing pre-series A round. The company plans to expand to Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. More info.

12. Torus (Singapore)

torus, a startup that has developed an easy login system for decentralized apps, secured US$1.5 million in seed funding. It is using the fresh funds to grow its engineering team. More info.

13. Asenso Tech (Singapore)

Fintech startup Asenso Tech, secured US$1.2 million in funding from joint venture partners Talino Venture Labs, Center for Agriculture and Rural Development Mutually Reinforcing Institutions, and an enterprise venture accelerator. The company offers microbusinesses online marketplace, an AI-powered credit scoring system, and chatbot-assisted loan applications, among other products. More info.

14. Tenderin (Malaysia)

Tenderin, the startup behind the business-to-business marketplace Lapasar, raised US$500,000 in a seed funding round led by SeedPlus, with participation from angel investors from Nexea. It will use the funds to improve automation for ordering and request-for-quotation processes. More info.
