Tiger Global co-leads $70m series B round of Indian jobs platform

Apna, a professional networking and jobs platform for blue- and grey- collar workers, has raised US$70 million in a series B funding round led by Insight Partners and Tiger Global,” Livemint reported.

Details:

  • The fundraise pushes the company’s total raised to over US$90 million and pegs its valuation at around US$570 million.
  • Apna will use the new capital to expand its footprint in its existing markets in India and extend further across the country over the next six months. It will also enhance its edtech platform by making new hires for its engineering and product teams.

Context:

  • The company’s existing backers – Sequoia Capital India, Lightspeed India, Greenoaks Capital, and Rocketship VC – rounded out the fundraise.
  • Apna said its app currently has more than 60 communities for professionals such as carpenters, painters, and sales agents and houses 10 million users and 100,000 employers to date.
