Hello reader,
Some brands have become synonymous with the industries they operate in. If you ask for a Kleenex, most people would pass you a piece of tissue paper, and if you pack lunch in a plastic container to the office, your colleagues would probably call it a Tupperware.
There isn’t yet a brand name associated with blockchain games, but there’s one company that might be close to achieving that: Hong Kong-based Animoca Brands.
The company is valued at over US$5 billion and has backed the likes of Axie Infinity developer Sky Mavis, decentralized autonomous organization Yield Guild Games, and more.
Most recently, Animoca Brands secured US$110 million in a debt facility. The money will go into delivering digital property rights as the firm looks to create play-to-earn economies and an equitable framework that can contribute to the open metaverse.
