Ex-Grab, Uber, Microsoft execs’ F&B startup lands $6.5m in Sequoia co-led round

Momos, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform based in Singapore, has raised US$6.5 million in its seed round led by Sequoia Capital India and Alpha Wave Incubation.

K3 Ventures, Captii Ventures, HOF Capital, JIA Group, Hong Kong-based Integrated Capital, and angel investors from global food delivery and software companies also took part in the financing round.

Momos will use the fresh funds to bankroll its expansion plans, improve its value proposition for restaurant partners, and develop its platform.

Founded in 2020 by former executives from Grab, Uber, Microsoft, and Intuit, Momos helps restaurants maximize revenue and growth through its marketing, reviews and analytics platform. It provides a unified interface for restaurants to work across food delivery platforms, social media, and other online channels.

“We think of ourselves as building Shopify for F&B, but in reverse,” said Sai Alluri, co-founder and CEO of Momos. Whether diners are ordering delivery, dining in, or getting a takeaway, “interact with the restaurant entirely online now.”

Currently, the company is working with large and small food and beverage firms across Southeast Asia, including The Lo & Behold Group, Flash Coffee, Guzman y Gomez, and Wolf Burgers. Online brands such as Tree Side Nasi Lemak, COOP by Neon Pigeon, and Curry Fried Chicken also use Momos’ services.
