Evernote is restricting device syncs. Do you have an alternative to share?

We awoke this morning to the news that our favorite note-taking app, Evernote, will bumping up their Premium and Plus pricing plans. Premium prices are rising from $5.99 to $7.99 a month, and the Plus going from $2.99 to $3.99 a month. Now here’s the question, how many of you use Evernote? Assuming you’re one of the many who uses it, how many of you actually pay for Evernote? Yeah. Didn’t think so.

The kicker came in the form of Evernote limiting the Free tier of the product to be able to sync with just two devices. Cue everyone going crazy.

For those who have one too many notes on the note-taking app, it’s time to consider perhaps subscribing for a Premium or a Plus plan. Or, like the rest of us, migrate to another note-taking app.

Given the nature of how most of us, myself included, lives by the bootstrap nature of how we’d like things to be easy to use, packed with lots of features and cheap or free.

Here’s a quick list of alternatives to Evernote that are free:

Apple Notes

Our desktops and mobile devices have all been pre-loaded with a notes app, why not use that? If you’re on a Mac, a simple syncing of notes to iCloud would have your notes at your fingertips wherever you are. And with the new Mac OS release, you can use the handoff feature to continue your note-taking fun on the go. Also, what’s not to love with its clean look?

Google Keep

We have a heavy reliance on Google apps, such as Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail and many more. Adding one more to the stable wouldn’t hurt. Google Keep is the current frontrunner and the next go-to app for note-taking. And yes, you can sync this across all your devices for free.
