Genesia Ventures, a Japan-headquartered VC firm, has closed its third fund at US$110 million to finance pre-seed and seed-stage startups across Southeast Asia, Japan, and India. Investors in this fund include Mizuho Bank and Canal Ventures.
Genesia Ventures looks to invest in startups engaging in digital transformation, media and entertainment, new economy, and frontier tech such as robotics and spacetech.
The firm aims to set up shop in India by the end of the year, adding to its network of offices in Tokyo, Jakarta, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Founded in 2016 by Soichi Tajima, Genesia Ventures counts Bobobox, Kamereo, and Airboxr among its portfolio companies.
The VC firm’s first US$35 million fund, which closed in 2017, had invested in 47 startups. Meanwhile, its second fund of US$70 million was disbursed to 59 companies.
