Edtech accelerator EduSpaze names 9 startups in 5th cohort

Singapore-based edtech accelerator EduSpaze has announced the nine early-stage startups that make up the fifth iteration of its accelerator program.

The three-month virtual accelerator will see the participating startups receive up to S$1 million (US$729,168) of investment and mentor support. Each startup will also have a unique accelerator experience and be able to conduct pilot projects.

The program aims to help the chosen startups develop and refine their product development and scalability efforts, as well as fine-tune revenue generation and investment plans.

“The investment in edtech development from established and traditional education institutes is also on the rise, highlighting the growing acceptance that edtech is solving a real-world problem in education,” said EduSpaze managing director Alex Ng.

The nine startups are:

• Scribo Holdings – An AI-powered startup based in Singapore and Australia that monitors student engagement in writing tasks.
• InvestEd – An educational loan platform based in the Philippines that raises funds to allow students to pursue higher education.
• Eduku – An Indonesian startup that offers a digitalized management system to automate the administrative work of teachers.
• Eduprime – A platform that provides assessment tools to educators, this Indonesian startup helps teachers develop and fine-tune their educational plans.
• Dystech – An Australian startup that uses AI to assess and help learners struggling to read.
• Top-BOSS – A gamification startup based in Taiwan that lets students learn through business simulation games.
• MindChamps – A Singaporean software-as-a-service startup that provides learning management systems targeted at the kindergarten to corporate training level.
• Datality Lab – A Hong Kong startup that uses machine learning and data science to offer insights into collected data.
• HeyHi – A Singapore-based startup that offers an online whiteboard tool for educators conducting online classes.

EduSpaze brought together its first cohort in February 2020 and is the first edtech accelerator in Singapore to be supported by the nation’s enterprise development agency, Enterprise Singapore.
