Koh Wai Kit, managing partner at East Ventures, has stepped down, a spokesperson confirms to Tech in Asia. The person adds that Koh will transition to an advisory role at the firm starting this month.
There are no immediate plans for a replacement. Koh declined to comment further when asked by Tech in Asia.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Koh joined East Ventures as venture partner in 2021 before becoming a managing partner the year after. Previously, he was part of the founding team at Pavilion Capital, a private equity firm and a Temasek subsidiary. He also held positions at Temasek and two Singapore ministries.
Koh’s departure follows that of David Fernando Audy, who had been an operating partner at East Ventures. Audy left after almost three years at the firm to join Sinarmas Agribusiness and Food as a director in November 2023.
Since its establishment in 2009, East Ventures has backed over 300 tech companies. In October 2023, the firm launched a US$100 million South Korea fund with SV Investment, as well as a US$30 million healthcare-focused fund in Indonesia.
