Vietnam discount startup banks $1m from CyberAgent and Bon Angels

Vietnam-based Jamja today announced it’s bagged US$1 million in fresh funding from South Korea’s Bon Angels and Japan’s CyberAgent Capital.

Founded in 2015, Jamja is a site that offers time-based discounts for local services like restaurants, salons, and movie theaters. It’s also a marketplace for items like milk tea and coffee. It has partnered with Hong Kong logistics startup Lalamove to offer free delivery of items bought on its platform for a maximum of 5 km.

The company said it will use the money it just raised to launch promos for more services like spas, karaoke, and healthcare.

The startup has 3,000 merchants on its site and 1.5 million monthly active users. According to CEO Le Hung Viet, the company – which is focused on Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City – plans to deploy localized apps that list services for other major cities in the country.

This is the second investment for Bon Angels in Jamja, following the startup’s US$860,000 pre-series A round in August.

It marks CyberAgent’s third investment in Vietnam. The VC also funded Vietnamese rental platform Luxstay and fitness startup WeFit this month.
