Hello reader,

Do we ever truly “make it?”

When I first started at Tech in Asia as a writer, I felt like I had made it. All my life, I had wanted to be gainfully employed as a writer, whether that be as a journalist, a book author, or – in my case – a partnership content specialist.

Fast forward a couple of years, and I found myself wanting more. I found editing to be rewarding, specifically in how I could help other people achieve the fullest potential with their work. That, among other motivations, led me to taking on my current role as managing editor of Tech in Asia Studios.

And now, I’m not just handling my team’s partnership content output but also contributing to various aspects of content across the whole Studios team. Client proposals, Tech in Asia Conference content (coming October 18 and 19, get your tickets now!), internal events, content marketing – there are more pies than I have fingers.

You gotta keep going, keep evolving. For Vietnamese tech giant VNG Corporation, its impending Nasdaq listing is merely the beginning of a new adventure. Today’s premium article dives into the ins and outs of the firm’s IPO.

Today we look at:

  • Tech in Asia’s takeaways from VNG’s IPO prospectus
  • More semiconductor news, this time a US$4 billion facility in Singapore
  • Other newsy highlights such as a Temasek program for deeptech innovation and a startup that aims to make legal aid affordable and accessible to Indonesians

What’s next for VNG?

When I was younger, performance reviews were scarier affairs – mainly because I was looking at them wrong. They felt like fault-finding sessions at the time.

But that was because I was immature and insecure. Over time, I’ve come to appreciate them as opportunities to learn about where I could improve and how else I could provide value and expertise. And as I’ve grown and taken on more responsibilities, there’s increasingly less to be insecure about.

VNG’s public listing might serve as a kind of performance review for the firm – and my colleague Simon looks at some areas where it needs to improve ahead of its IPO.
