“Alok Goel, the former partner at venture capital firm Elevation Capital (earlier known as SAIF Partners), has launched his new startup Drivetrain. The startup will develop a business planning and monitoring software for software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies,” reported Inc42.
Details:
- Goel acts as the CEO of the company, while former Freshworks exec Tarkeshwar Thakur serves as its chief technology officer.
- Prior to Drivetrain, Goel was the CEO of Freecharge, the chief operating officer of RedBus, and the product lead at Google. Meanwhile, Thakur was the CEO of the social chat app Chatimity and a senior software engineer at Google.
Context:
- The SME-focused horizontal SaaS market in India is worth US$8.7 billion, a report from Inc42 Plus showed. Some players in the space include Zoho, Clevertap, Wingify, Freshworks, and Deskera.
- Goel led Elevation Capital’s investments in Unacademy, Factors.ai, Fareye, Goodera, Haber, Medtrail, Meesho, Sharechat, Superops, Toppr, and Zomentum.
