NFT gamifies your healthy lifestyle shift

OSbiome, a Web3 decentralized health platform, is set to mint its collection of NFTs that will serve as a mode of earning tokens for a game that pays users to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Called the Ome Pioneer Generation collection, OSbiome will mint 1,000 virtual pets with 3D traits in mid-June. Owners of these NFTs will get exclusive airdrops of the company’s future tokens, which can also be rented out to other players soon.

OSbiome helps users track their food and lifestyle habits, and receive personalized quests to improve health. It is looking to introduce a basic layer of gamification to its platform by early next month, where users can earn tokens by completing quests.

The company also provides a home lab-grade test that helps individuals suffering from chronic gut issues discover their specific gaps in their gut flora via gut microbiome sequencing and analysis.

“The launch of an NFT first is a very conscious decision to help us bring together users who truly believe in our vision of making personalized health accessible and fun,” OSbiome founder Ian Chong told Tech in Asia. “We will also be able to see which markets are ready for our new concept.”

The health platform will focus on the Southeast Asian market as noncommunicable diseases – mainly cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes, and cancer – are top killers in the region, claiming an estimated 8.5 million lives each year.

The company will charge a 5% royalty fee on the trading of its NFTs, along with a transaction fee for trading, buying, and selling of NFTs and products on the platform. It has partnered with firms including Doctor Anywhere, Sparkd Gym Revive Nutrition, and Bakening.

OSbiome, which graduated from startup accelerator Entrepreneur First in November 2021, has a mobile application live on the app stores, and is looking to complete the transition into Web3 by the end of this year. It aims to make a 5% impact on the global health market by serving 1.5 million users every year.
