In a statement, the company said it shifted the schedule to encourage startups to prioritize fundraising readiness and allow them to choose how and when to meet the market. Its demo days were previously held six months after a cohort.

“Given the different types of businesses we work with – from hardware to bio to software – each company has a different gestation period and, therefore, a different readiness to raise funding,” added Bernadette Cho, general manager of Entrepreneur First Singapore.

The startups showcasing in the program are those that tackle challenges across environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing, microbiome sequencing, warehouse inventory optimization, ecommerce product recommendation, edtech, and research and development (R&D) manufacturing.

They are:

  • ESGnie, an AI-powered investment analysis tool that makes custom ESG insights for funds accessible, faster, and cheaper.
  • OSbiome, a home lab-grade test that helps individuals suffering from chronic gut issues discover their specific preventable triggers via gut microbiome sequencing and analysis.
  • Powerhouse AI, an AI-powered image-based search engine that eliminates human error and reduces labor around warehouse inventory checks by 60%.
  • Suggestr, an AI-powered app that runs the fastest-growing ecommerce product recommendation engine on Shopify, which processes 30,000 queries daily.
  • Quantum Boost, a platform for analyzing real-time experimental data to accelerate R&D manufacturing through machine learning for targeted experiments.
  • Jackett, an edtech platform that helps teachers create, mark, and analyze formative assessments, and takes down the process from three hours to five minutes for any curriculum and in over 20 languages.

Entrepreneur First said applications for its next cohort are currently open until early next year. The cohort will start in April 2022.
