Tiger Global-backed CleverTap secures $105m to fuel expansion
CleverTap, an India-founded customer engagement and retention platform, has raised US$105 million in a series D funding round led by investment group CDPQ, which committed US$75 million. The round also saw participation from Tiger Global, Sequoia Capital India, and IIFL AMC’s Tech Fund.
After the deal, representatives from CDPQ will join CleverTap’s board of directors.

Now based in the US, CleverTap helps companies and brands build relationships with their customers through analytics, segmentation, and engagement tools. Since being founded in 2013, it has been used by 1,200 brands in 100 countries, which include the likes of Gojek, Carousell, AirAsia, ShopX, and Electronic Arts.
Currently, CleverTap has offices in California, Mumbai, Singapore, Jakarta, Dubai, Sofia, Sao Paulo, Bogota, and Amsterdam.
The company plans to use the fresh funding for product development, expansion, and hiring purposes.
CleverTap was established by Sunil Thomas – who previously served as chief technology officer in several media and tech companies – along with Suresh Kondamudi and Anand Jain. The platform is currently led by former Freshworks executive Sidharth Malik.
Earlier this year, CleverTap acquired San Francisco-based competitor Leanplum for an undisclosed amount.
