Chinese gamer makes Hearthstone battles 3D by editing in WoW animations

Blizzard’s Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is taking card-gaming videogame fans by storm. But sometimes, a 2D card model and some cool animations just aren’t enough and you wan’t something a little more…visceral. That’s apparently how one Chinese gamer felt, so he created the video below. Want to see what Hearthstone looks like with 3D battles? Check it out!

(Skip ahead to around 0:40 to see the first animated creature appear).

The gamer in question, who uploaded the video to his or her Youku account last week, used animations from World of Warcraft to give the card game’s battles a more visceral appeal. The person behind the clip hopes that Blizzard might even adopt this approach “if it’s possible,” according to the video description.

Personally, I think it’s a pretty cool idea, and it’ll be tough to look at Hearthstone the same way again after having seen this.
