‘Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Ultimate Edition’ Available for Demo on Steam

Three years after its release for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Konami’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Ultimate Edition will be available on Steam on August 27. For those of you who’d like to get your feet wet in some hard-hitting monster-slaying action on PC, you can download the demo now for free on Steam. In less than an hour (depending on your download speed), you can enjoy being Gabriel, the protagonist. It requires you to download the Steam client and have an account. The Steam client is just a 1.5MB download and making an account will take just a minute or so. I mean, this is Castlevania we’re talking about here.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Ultimate Edition is currently available for pre-order for $26.99, slashing 10 percent off the original tag price of $29.99. The game coming to PC is actually good news for people like me who have not been able to get the game on a console. It’s also something to dwell on while we wonder about the possible lifting of China’s game console ban. That is, unless, Steam is also banned in China, which doesn’t seem to be the case.

The game will also have full controller support so you don’t have to worry about not being comfortable with your keyboard. What I like about Castlevania: Lords of Shadow being on Steam is that I can access the game anywhere as long as I have access to the Steam client and a decent internet connection. It also has Steam achievements for some bragging rights. But for those of you who would prefer to play outside of the Steam platform, the standalone PC version is set to be released on August 30.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was developed by MercurySteam and Kojima Productions and published by Konami. It is part of the Castlevania series that began in 1986. You can download the free demo from the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Steam page.
