Founded in August 2020 and officially launched in February this year, GetGo said it facilitates instant user registration through its integration with MyInfo, Singapore’s identity verification system. The processes, the company said, would often take one to two days in the past.
GetGo uses technology to do predictive vehicle maintenance and cleaning, as well as take care of refueling. It charges users based on hours and mileage, starting from S$3 (US$2.2) upward with no subscription or deposit fees required. It claims that over 14,000 users have pre-registered for its service to date.
According to the car-sharing firm, it targets to grow its fleet size to 1,000 cars and expand its footprint to over 600 locations in Singapore by the end of this year.
The demand for personal mobility has increased as more people work from home during the Covid-19 pandemic, said GetGo. Meanwhile, the cost of car ownership continues to rise due to the limits on Singapore’s private car population. Instead of owning a vehicle, Singapore’s 1.8 million drivers are shifting toward alternatives for their mobility needs.
In Singapore, the car-sharing industry is expected to reach US$130 million in revenue this year, according to Statista. Players in the space include BlueSG – which was reported to be acquired by Goldbell Group this month – TribeCar, and Car Club, among others.
