Capcom announces Resident Evil remaster, Asia to get PS3 physical edition early

Resident Evil fans rejoice! Capcom has announced a remaster to the game that started it all. Yes, the original Resident Evil is coming to Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. It will be based on the Gamecube version that released in 2002.

If a shiny, graphically superior version of this classic wasn’t enough, you can choose between a modern control scheme that requires the use of the analogue stick and the original “tank” control scheme that was all the rage when analogue sticks didn’t exist. Wish you could play it in all its grainy glory? Capcom has included the option to let you play it as it first released as well as with all the modern day trimmings. The difference is in the details:

And speaking of digital, that’s the format Resident Evil will be available on for most part when it launches in early 2015. If you can’t wait for your zombie killing fix, the PS3 version will be available as a physical release for Asia titled Biohazard HD Remaster on November 27, 2014.

It’s great that Capcom is bringing this much-loved classic to newer machines. It would be nice to see other developers bringing back some of yesteryear’s most popular titles with all the bells and whistles they truly deserve, like Metal Gear Solid.
