As part of its first program, Skala has invested US$30,000 in each of the six alumni companies for 5% equity. These startups are:

  • Atenda, an app that helps businesses to manage employees and do administrative work
  • Storial, a platform that allows its users to write, share, and monetize stories
  • Magalarva, a producer of sustainable protein for animal feed
  • Callista, an online platform that offers skin analysis and skincare product recommendations
  • NusaTalent, a job search platform that caters to fresh graduates
  • Noompang, a ride-sharing platform provider

Applications for Skala’s second cohort will be open until August 9. It will select up to 15 participants for the 20-week program, which scheduled to begin on September 9.

Chosen startups will receive US$50,000 for 8% equity. Skala will focus on tech startups with founding teams that possess strong domain expertise and a deep understanding of the Indonesian market.

The accelerator was established by Innovation Factory and Strive, which was formerly known as Gree Ventures. Skala will also offer the startups access to other services such as office space, legal and accounting staff, credit, and cloud hosting.

Other partners at Skala include Adrian Lim, a director at Innovation Factory and CEO of PopBox, and Budiman Wikarsa, head of startup ecosystem at Amazon Web Services Indonesia, as well as Nikhil Kapur and Samir Chaibi, a partner and an investment manager at Strive, respectively.

Skala has also recruited Bukalapak co-founder Fajrin Rasyid, Fave Group co-founder Yeoh Chen Chow, and Jagadiri CEO Reginald Hamdani to serve as mentors.
