Under the agreement, US-based New Relic will help Tokopedia identify and solve technical issues, gain deeper insights into business metrics, and better manage its tech stack, including its mobile app.

The Jakarta-based ecommerce player also said that New Relic’s Observability Map dashboard will assist it in viewing information such as metrics, events, traces, logs, alerts, and deployments markers in a single map.

“Another standout feature in New Relic is the ability to make a direct correlation between the status of a transaction and the monetary value. We can actually identify the amount of shortfalls in relation to the number of transactions with the corresponding user,” said Herman Widjaja, senior vice president of engineering at Tokopedia.

Founded in 2009, Tokopedia now has more than 100 million monthly active users on its platform, according to its website. Of that number, 9.9 million are merchants.

In late 2020, the company reportedly received US$350 million in funding from US-based internet firm Google and Temasek Holdings.

It was also recently reported that Tokopedia is in advanced talks with fellow homegrown unicorn Gojek about a potential merger. If the deal pushes through, the resulting entity would have a valuation of US$18 billion.
