Binance names ex-Facebook exec as investment director

Binance, one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges, has appointed former Facebook executive Gwendolyn Regina to lead the investments of its US$100 million Binance Smart Chain fund.

Experience:

• Before Binance, Regina worked with media firms like *Channel NewsAsia* and Mashable.
• She served as head of venture capital partnerships at Facebook and led its startup fast-track growth program.

More details:

• The development comes as Binance was put on the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s investor alert list yesterday. Binance is also facing regulatory scrutiny in several countries, including Japan, Thailand, and the UK.
• Last month, the company appointed ex-US Treasury financial crime investigator Greg Monahan as its global money laundering reporting officer. It also named Leigh Travers, former director and CEO of DigitalX, as the CEO of its Australia unit.
