This Week in Asia Tech Start-ups: 10 That Caught Our Eye

Here’s this week’s list:


1. Wishscope | Japan

Tokyo-based tech start-up Zawatt just announced it has received funding from Japan’s Cyber Agent Ventures and now is worth 20 million yen. The start-up is currently working on developing an iPhone app called Wishscope, which allows you to ask someone to help you make your wishes true and solve problems that you’re facing.

2.Stylekandi | Malaysia

Malaysia-based start-up StyleKandi.com is a crowd-sourced platform where users share the latest trends in many areas of interest — fashion, cars, tech and gadgets, and many more.

3. Qiito | Singapore

Qiito (pronounced as Key-Tow), which stands for Quick, Interesting, Interactive Travel Organizer is a Singapore-based start-up that claims to be the first Asia-based interactive online travel planner. It has raised more than SGD$2 million (US$1.6 million) from an anonymous Japan-based venture capital firm in a series A funding in July of this year.

4. Loiloscope | Japan

Loiloscope is a video editing software from Japanese start-up firm Loilo Inc, which was founded back in 2007 by two brothers, Koji and Ryutaro Sugiyama. Both worked in gaming industry, Koji for Bandai Namco and Ryutaro for Sega.

5. 31SMS | Taiwan

Taiwanese pop singer Jay Chou seems to have been inspired by Hollywood movie star Aston Kutcher in investing in a start-up. Jay is ploughing an undisclosed sum into the group-messaging app 31SMS, which is made in Taiwan. We have also given the app a good review — Check it out here.
