Prosus, East Ventures co-leads $35m round of Indonesian fishery startup
Aruna, an Indonesia-based marine and fishery startup, announced it has raised US$35 million in its latest round of funding.

- The company says this is the largest series A round to date in Indonesia’s agritech and maritime sector.
- It will use the fresh funds to expand to new areas in Indonesia, hire data analytics staff, and increase its tech development, including internet of things (IoT) devices to help perform quality checks.
- Aruna currently has 20 product categories for the 21,000 fishermen on its platform and over 45 collection sites. Some of its products are exported to other markets, such as Malaysia, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Canada, and the US.
- The company has also appointed Budiman Goh, former director of Garudafood, as its president. In addition, it has named Utari Octavianty, one of its co-founders, as its chief sustainability officer.
