Surge leads $2.5m funding for Thai one-click checkout firm

Beam, a Thailand-based payment firm, has raised US$2.5 million in a seed funding round led by Sequoia India and Southeast Asia’s accelerator program, Surge, with participation from Partech Partners.

Founded in 2019, Beam is a one-click checkout solution that makes online transactions easier on ecommerce and social platforms. It claims that its checkout process takes only 20 seconds to complete.

The company was established by former Roland Berger consultant Win Vareekasem, former Arm software engineer Nattapat Chaimanowong, and Mike Chinakrit Piamchon, who has had experience in retail ecommerce in the US and Southeast Asia.

Beam is part of Surge’s seventh cohort, which was unveiled earlier this year.

The payment firm plans to use the fresh funding to hire employees, acquire more merchants, and expand to other countries in Southeast Asia.
