In brief: Byju’s CEO becomes India’s newest billionaire
- Byju Raveendran became India’s newest billionaire after his edtech firm Think & Learn Pvt. Ltd. bagged US$150 million in funding earlier in July, Livemint reported.
- The investment conferred a value of US$5.7 billion on the company, in which Raveendran owns more than 21%, according to people familiar with the matter.
- The closing of the deal coincided with the announcement that the Byju’s app will be partnering with The Walt Disney Company, taking its service to the US by early next year.
