Agate Studio Launches Bubble Puzzle Game Blob Blob Battle

Remember those bubble puzzle games back in the PlayStation era? Now you can play on the web. Brought to you by Agate Studio, Blob Blob Battle has launched on Viwawa.com. So far it has gained lots of traction in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, and USA.

In Blob Blob Battle you shoot bubbles out of cannon into a stack of colorful bubbles. If you can hit three or more bubbles sharing the same color as the bubble-bullets in one shot, those bubbles will vanish and your stack becomes smaller.

To differentiate Blob Blob Battle and other bubble puzzle games, they changed the stack. The stack will rotate and the bubbles will move according to your shooting momentum. This unique mechanical aspect enhances the game-play and makes it more fun.

Three modes are available for you to play: Practice Zone where you can hone your shooting skill first, Open Battle Zone where you play in a two-player match against another player for two minutes, and Endless Zone where you play against another player without a time limit, the game ending when a player’s bubble hits the window’s wall.

You start the game in the lobby. Here you can create a room for two, and then wait for another player to join the room and to play against you. Alternatively, you can enter one of available rooms created by other players. In the lobby you can also view your own profile where you can see your level, gold, and the money you have collected from winning matches, which you can use later to buy power-booster items from the shop.

Blob Blob Battle took two months and team of five to develop, and will earn revenue from the in-app gold currency that Viwawa provides. Although when I asked about a breakdown of the revenue sharing, they were unable to share those details. We all know that Agate Games is famous for its mobile games, but this is not the first time they created a game for the web, they have a Facebook game called Football Saga as well.
