Asikul Alam Khan spent years observing small retailers across Bangladesh and saw shop owners lose customers because their supply chains were broken, with restocking being slow and unreliable. Khan realized the problem was not a lack of effort but a lack of infrastructure, which inspired him to launch PriyoShop.
😟 Problem
In Bangladesh, small neighborhood retailers struggle to restock their shops efficiently. They rely on multiple middlemen and manual, cash-only transactions, leading to inconsistent pricing and frequent stock-outs. These micro and small retailers represent over 90% of the country’s retail outlets.
Operating on thin margins, these businesses often lack access to digital tools and formal credit. Over 70% of MSMEs in Bangladesh are underserved by formal credit, preventing them from growing their inventory and sales.
💡 Solution
PriyoShop provides a mobile platform that lets small retailers restock directly from brands and distributors. The app simplifies inventory management and digitizes a previously manual process. The company also operates its own logistics network to ensure reliable, next-day delivery.
The platform provides retailers with several key features:
- An app to browse products, view transparent prices, and place orders.
- Next-day delivery is fulfilled through an in-house logistics network.
- Embedded short-term credit to purchase inventory without upfront cash.

📊 Market size
The core customers are Bangladesh’s 4 million to 5 million micro and small retailers, with over 90% of these shops still operating through informal, offline supply chains. PriyoShop is currently focused on a serviceable market of around 1 million urban and semi-urban retailers.
On average, an active retailer generates US$2,000 to US$3,000 in annual transaction volume on the platform. This presents a multi-billion-dollar annual opportunity in Bangladesh alone. The model is also designed to be repeatable in similar emerging markets across South and Southeast Asia.
