Vizzio bolsters exec lineup 2 years after credential saga

Vizzio Technologies, an AI-powered surveillance and 3D-mapping startup, has announced new appointments to its board.

One of the appointees is Robert “Bob” McCooey, Nasdaq’s vice chairman and global head of capital markets, who joined as a senior adviser to Vizzio’s board.

“With the recent framework between Singapore Exchange and Nasdaq to facilitate dual listings, it is not hard to imagine Vizzio emerging as a prime candidate,” says McCooey.

The Singapore firm also named Yeow Koon Tay, previously assistant CEO at Home Team Science and Technology Agency, as CTO. Raymond Chiam, former managing director at Temasek International, stepped in as chief strategy officer.

Meanwhile, Shahrin Abdol Salam, who served as CEO of SingPost Singapore and managing director at SMRT TEL, is now Vizzio’s Middle East CEO.

Jon Lee, founder and CEO of the company, says each of the new appointees has “world‐class experience in defense and security, global investments, and capital markets access.” He adds that these are “exactly the capabilities” the group needs for the year ahead.

In 2024, Lee admitted to faking his credentials. A number of investors and board members exited Vizzio afterward.

The appointments follow a recent fundraising round led by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation.

Currently, Vizzio’s solutions are used by seven ministries in Saudi Arabia, including schools, hospitals, factories, and sports stadiums. This is part of the startup’s partnership with IoT Squared, a joint venture between the Saudi sovereign wealth fund Public Investment Fund and Saudi Telecom Company.

Vizzio is looking to expand across Southeast Asia from its Singapore headquarters and “collaborate with leading national and commercial space agencies.” The goal is to show how satellite data can be used to “strengthen national resilience and economic growth.”

“Our ambition is to build the Asian Palantir, and their decision to join us is a strong validation of the technology and the mission we are pursuing,” says Lee.
