2C2P launches hiring, brand refresh initiative as it gears up for global expansion

Southeast Asian payments platform 2C2P announced the rollout of its branding refresh initiative alongside a talent recruitment spree as part of its repositioning to expand globally.

The company is also relocating its Singapore head office to the center of the city-state’s financial district at 30 Raffles Place, according to a statement.

The move would allow 2C2P to accommodate a larger team as it prepares to serve and attract global clients across various sectors, including ecommerce, consumer tech, and retail.

This year, the company said it continued to grow its 400 member-strong global workforce across 10 markets. Its team in Singapore expanded by nearly 30% with a slew of senior management hires, 2C2P noted.

“Singapore has been instrumental to our growth, due to its business-friendly and conducive investment environment,” said 2C2P founder and CEO Aung Kyaw Moe. “This strategic investment consolidates our position and prepares us for the next phase of growth.”

Since moving into Singapore in 2007, 2C2P said it has grown from a startup to becoming a key regional payments service provider.

Earlier this year, 2C2P reportedly raked in US$81.3 million in revenue in 2019, up 57.5% from the year prior. The company also generated US$2.1 million in profits last year, recovering from comprehensive losses of US$1.1 million in 2018 and US$2.2 million in 2017.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the company said that it was on track to hit US$100 million in revenue this year. However, it was unclear how 2C2P’s gross merchandise value (GMV) would have been affected by the pandemic, which wiped out business for the travel sector.

The company recently set up an investment arm to invest in fintech opportunities across Southeast Asia.

Eva Weber, the new VC entity’s investment director, previously told Tech in Asia that 2C2P aims to strengthen its parent firm’s core markets in the region, including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Singapore. It’s also on the lookout for companies that can help 2C2P expand outside Southeast Asia, she added.

Meanwhile, as part of its major rebranding initiative, the company said aims to create a more international and accessible look and feel. The redesigned website was launched today.

“We look to raise brand awareness, bring onboard more international clients, and motivate our dedicated team,” added Aung.
