Folks based in the US can probably satisfy their ebook cravings using Amazon and Google Play. But in Southeast Asia, Thailand’s Ookbee has emerged as a serious player in the ebook industry. The startup claims to be the most popular ebook vendor in the region, and also has apps for social gaming and emagazines.

Ookbee is a venture capital backed startup, but it’s an investor too. To date, it has participated in funding rounds for Taamkru and  JobTalents, two early-stage Thai startups that each pair social responsibility alongside growing a business.

How could Ookbee move quicker than the big-name corporate giants in Southeast Asia? Is it possible for busy startup founders to double as venture capitalists in Asia? Ookbee cofounder Moo Natavudh will be speaking at Tech in Asia’s Startup Asia Tokyo 2014 to touch on these issues and more. You don’t want to miss it!
