TSMC won’t make advanced chips in US next year, minister says
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has announced that its most advanced chip production processes—2-nanometer and 1.6-nanometer technologies—will not be produced in the United States until at least 2026.
This confirmation came from Taiwan’s Economics Minister, Kuo Jyh-huei, during a legislative session on Mar.4.
Kuo responded to inquiries regarding the introduction of these technologies at TSMC’s US facilities in the near term, stating,
“This is impossible. I guarantee it—the 2 nm and 1.6 nm processes will not go to the US next year.”
