Indonesian job site KerjaDulu receives angel investment from Astra International chairman

KerjaDulu, Indonesia’s social network for job seekers and employers, announced today that it received an angel investment of “a six-figure US dollar” amount from Budi Setiadharma, chairman of the Indonesian conglomerate PT Astra International.

Since its inception in 1957, Astra International has grown to become the largest automotive distributor and producer in the archipelago, having partnered with Japanese car manufacturers such as Toyota, Daihatsu, and Isuzu.

KerjaDulu, which has been in public beta since the first day of 2014, will use the new funding to enhance its site, grow its internal team, propel sales and marketing, and add partnership programs to the online recruitment market. In Indonesia, KerjaDulu competes with JobStreet and JobsDB.

“The social recruitment market is primed for exponential growth, we are excited and honored to have the support from the chairman of Indonesia’s largest company,” said KerjaDulu founder and CEO Chris Liu in a statement.

Arya Pradana Setiadharma will join KerjaDulu’s board of directors and Ardi Dwinanta Setiadharma will join KerjaDulu’s board of commissioners. Both of them were early angel investors for Klik-Eat, a local tech startup that was recently acquired by Yume no Machi.

“Hiring is such a fundamental part of our economy and looking beyond traditional sources like job boards is critical to attracting and hiring quality talent,” said Setiadharma. “We decided to invest in KerjaDulu because of its experienced founding team and the innovative social recruitment platform.” Astra International is currently the umbrella business for 179 companies.
