Execs from Google, Twitter join tech investment group XA Network’s advisory board

XA Network, an tech investment network with members from companies like Alibaba, Gojek, Grab, and Netflix, has appointed major executives to form its advisory board. The new members include John Wood, Steve Chen, Maya Hari, and David Thevenon.

Experience:

• John Wood is the founder of education-centered nonprofit Room to Read and currently serves on the board of Asia Partners.
• A former chief technology officer and co-founder of media giant YouTube, Steve Chen most recently served as the entrepreneur-in-residence for Google.
• As the vice president and managing director for Twitter in Asia Pacific, Maya Hari oversees the social media company’s tech operations in the region.
• David Thevenon is a general partner for London’s Balderton Capital. Prior to that, he was a founding member of SoftBank Group’s global investment team.

• XA Network said the appointments signal its efforts to further its growth and reach in Southeast Asia’s digital economy, which is expected to grow 3x to US$300 billion by 2025, according to the 2020 e-Conomy SEA Report.
• The advisory board will work closely with XA Network’s existing members and are set to champion the company’s new purpose: “to be an organization that fosters inclusive innovation for the benefit of startups across Southeast Asia.”
