WordPress parent firm pumps $30m into Indian billionaire’s email startup
Titan, founded by Indian billionaire Bhavin Turakhia, announced that it has secured a US$30 million investment from Automattic, the parent company of WordPress. This is the largest investment ever made by Automattic, and it values the professional email startup at US$300 million.

Titan will use the fresh funds to expand the product suite it offers to customers.
With Titan, Turakhia aims to disrupt the email market by delivering a range of professional features through its email suite. Titan’s offerings allow users to schedule emails, follow up on important conversations, set up email templates, and create custom signatures.
The platform is available to users through partnerships with a number of web-based service providers, including WordPress.com.

Turakhia is a serial entrepreneur whose banking tech venture Zeta became a unicorn in May after a US$250 million infusion from SoftBank Vision Fund 2. Before Zeta, he had co-founded business collaboration company Flock, domain registry platform Radix, and domain and hosting business Directi, which was sold for about US$160 million to Nasdaq-listed Endurance Group in 2014.
