Chinese fans unimpressed with Riot live stream introducing new Summoner’s Rift and patch 4.10

Patch 4.10 finally hit the Chinese League of Legends servers yesterday and no, that is not a typo. As usual, China is arriving late to the party, especially given that the patch notes for 4.11 have already become available.

Still, Riot decided to hold a 90-minute live stream today to talk about the new Summoner’s Rift. Invited to the program were special guests GoGoing, the current toplaner for OMG, and Xiao Cang, one of China’s most well-known female League of Legends commentators. While it was a nice gesture, the comments from Chinese fans were largely negative.

Sure, an update to Summoner’s Rift is a good thing. But there’s a 12 hour time difference between China and the US/Korea, yet somehow there’s a 1 month difference in version updates. Only after everyone else gets sick of the update do we finally start to get it. I guess it’s obvious why Chinese eSports is how it is (losing to Korea). [8500+ upvotes]

Tencent is the publisher for LOL (in China). The other countries are all managed by Riot Games themselves, so of course they get faster updates. In China, we need Tencent translate and voice overs, which of course need some time. Those who just brainlessly spout crap, do some thinking! [2500+ upvotes]
