What to expect from Tencent's game conference today: Moonlight Blade, Kgame, LoL and more
Today, Tencent will be holding its annual gaming press conference, and if you’re interested in the Chinese gaming scene, you should be excited. Of course, we’ll know all the official details soon enough, but here’s what to expect:
New Games
Rumor has it Tencent will announce two new games at the press conference. One of them is definitely Kgame, the star-studded, PVP-focused action game that we’ve speculated will also have strong MOBA elements. The other is rumored to be the Chinese debut of the Russian-made online war game War Thudner.
Other games
Moonlight Blade: Tencent has already started heating up the hype around this flagship MMO, and we’ll probably find out about the game’s next beta phase during the presser. Reportedly, the next beta will include a lot of new content including a new expression system, and will look and feel a bit different from previous versions of the game.
Monster Hunter Online: Following in Tencent’s investment in Capcom, rumor has it some high-level Capcom execs will be on hand for the press conference, and the most likely reason is new information about their collaborative project Monster Hunter Online. Rumor has it details about the game’s third round of closed beta testing, and details about a new map area, will be unveiled at the conference.
Yulong Zaitian: We may hear more about the new version of the game and its redone visuals.
Asura: We should hear about a new playable class, new quests, and new playstyles. We may also hear more about the next version.
League of Legends: LoL is Tencent’s most important game so there’s no way it will go unmentioned, but since Tencent doesn’t develop it, it seems unlikely that there will be major news like a new character or game mode. The most likely news would be the date when Chinese servers will update to the latest patch.
Dungeon and Fighter: This is another of Tencent’s most popular games, and will certainly get a mention. We’re likely to see more hype and probably some more information about the upcoming new version of the game, including new missions, new towns, and new classes, etc.
Blade & Soul: There likely won’t be any major news about this game, but we may hear more about the upcoming mobile version.
Others: We may also hear more about other Tencent-published games like FIFA Online 3 and Call of Duty Online. We’ll likely also hear quite a bit about Tencent’s mobile games both new and old.
We’ll have detailed English coverage of the interesting stuff from the press conference once everything is official.
