For the second year running, the global Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) tournament series will begin its tour in the middle kingdom. This year the tournament, which is now in its ninth season, will hold its first event from July 16-21 in Shenzhen, China. This is the tournament’s first stop in Shenzhen, although IEM has held China-based events four times previously in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu.
Qualifiers for the Shenzhen event will begin on June 1.
More details about the event and its qualifiers will be forthcoming in the coming weeks—if you want to learn more about qualifiers, keep an eye on this page—but for now, that’s about all the detail we have. The tournament is likely to feature at least Starcraft 2 and League of Legends competitions, but it’s not clear yet whether any new games may have been added to the lineup.
