Photo sharing app Cooliris integrates with Tencent, Evernote, Tumblr, and more

Cooliris, an app that enables users to share and view photos from multiple sources on their mobile devices, has announced a partnership with China’s Tencent, one of the world’s biggest internet companies by market cap, and a continuing relationship with Russia’s Yandex, an internet search engine.

Photo integrations with Evernote, Tumblr, and SkyDrive have also been launched, bringing Cooliris-compatible sources to 20.

The deal with Tencent means that users can now access photos from Tencent Weibo through Cooliris. WeChat and QQ Zone integration, both Tencent products, are in the works. This is not the first time Cooliris is making a push into China: It previously announced an integration with RenRen, another Chinese social network.

Russian users, meanwhile, can access photos from Yandex.Images, an image search service, and Yandex.Disk, an online cloud storage service.

According to Derek Tan, business development head for Cooliris in Asia, such local partnerships, forged through one-man offices in various countries, are instrumental in the company’s regional expansion.

The startup now has employees in Singapore, Taiwan, India, and Malaysia.

The tie-ups with Chinese partners have an added dimension: Many of these companies are expanding outside their home and into markets like the United States. Cooliris, being based in California, is poised to help.
