In other Steam Greenlight news, Ghost Recon Online is finally emerging from its beta cocoon and stretching its fully formed wings this spring. The tactical third person shooter set in the Tom Clancy universe was developed entirely in Ubisoft Singapore and is the company’s first AAA free-to-play game.
It has spent about two years in beta and grown to have a community of about four million registered users.
“Bringing Ghost Recon Online to Steam has been our goal since the game’s inception,” said Corey Facteau, producer at Ubisoft. “We took the time necessary to reach a quality level that can go head to head with the best online games available today before releasing on Steam.”
Interestingly enough, Facteau added that the team gameplay element in Ghost Recon Online had managed to attract MOBA players, who now “comprise fifty percent” of their user base.
The full edition of Ghost Recon Online will be available worldwide this spring, and is also on Steam’s Early Access program, albeit only for Canada. You can still play the beta version here.
