Hi readers,
Recently, I looked at my old notes about startup concepts, and I realized that some of them were pretty lame. Case in point: “An app to remind me how food from this store tasted” because I can never remember how good (or bad) a restaurant was.
What do you think? Could that be the next big thing? 😉
Anyway, just because my ideas never became a reality doesn’t mean startup dreams can’t come true. Among the countries in Southeast Asia, Singapore has attracted a ton of investment, so we checked out which startups are getting those funds.
Today we look at,
- Which are the startups raising truckloads of money in Singapore?
- Meet the startup disrupting the pharmaceutical sector in Vietnam
- Other newsy highlights such as ByteDance in talks to sell its securities business and crypto exchange Binance landing on Singapore’s investor alert list
PREMIUM SUMMARY
These Singapore-based startups are getting a lot of love

Cool stat of the day: Singapore-based startups raised S$5.3 billion (US$3.9 billion) in the first half of 2021 – that’s a 56% increase compared to the previous year. All eyes are now on how the second half of the year will do. But before that, we decided to take a look at the startups that are already raising large amounts of funding and contributing to this growth.
- Crypto power: Digital asset exchange Zipmex raised a whopping US$41 million recently. Launched in 2017, the company serves almost 1 million clients and has processed more than US$4 billion in gross transaction volume to date.
- Handle with care: Logistics software-as-a-server startup Parcel Perform helps ecommerce firms optimize logistics operations. The company, which claims to be profitable, recently secured US$20 million in a series A round.
- Peer to peer, but make it crypto: Crypto lending platform Vauld bagged US$25 million in its series A round. Founded in 2018, the company lets users lend, borrow, and trade crypto assets.
