Gojek’s accelerator program reveals first cohort of startups

Indonesian tech giant Gojek has named the five startups that form the first cohort of its Gojek Xcelerate accelerator program, which was launched in partnership with local startup hub Digitaraya.

The program, which was also a collaboration with Google Developers Launchpad, McKinsey & Company, and UBS Bank, provided the startups with an opportunity to learn directly from various investors and Gojek’s data scientists, who shared tips on applying machine learning to various functions.

During the demo day last week, the startups showed their commitment to using machine learning to drive growth, Nicole Yap, managing director of Digitaraya, said. They also had the opportunity to be integrated into Gojek’s ecosystem, according to a statement.

Here are the five startups:

• Crewdible is a logistics firm that connects online merchants with warehouse owners through its platform.
• Izy.ai is a hospitality industry-focused startup that uses mobile and machine learning technology to elevate hotel experiences.
• Peto is an app-based solution provider for pet needs, such as pet adoption, insurance, grooming, general tips, and dog walking.
• Qlue is a smart-city app that allows citizens to identify issues around their respective neighborhoods and report them to the government.
• Travelio is an accommodation-sharing startup that connects property owners and developers to potential tenants through its platform.

Gojek and Digitaraya launched Gojek Xcelerate last month. The program involves initiatives aimed at driving business growth, such as growth hacking, business model development, and machine learning applications.

“The bigger volume of data that goes through the Gojek platform allows us to analyze larger and more complex data so we can produce more accurate insights,” Gojek co-founder Kevin Aluwi said.

“Seeing this great potential, Gojek also allocated a significant investment to develop people who understand machine learning to create more solutions through the technology,” he added.

Gojek Xcelerate is set to run a series of programs for six months for 20 selected local startups.
